MantrikSt David’s day is upon us and so our minds quite rightly are filled with images of leeks and daffodils and more importantly with Dragons.

The mystical and majestic image of a beautiful dragon, a greater site you could ever imagine. I am sure that all our dragons look different to each of us, even if they do share some similarities with each other. I am also sure that our dragons symbolise different things to each and every one of us.

Dragons can represent the primal forces in nature, the elements and the universe itself, they are known to see the bigger picture in things and to see danger long before it arrives. The New Moon or Dark Moon is when the Moon is directly between the Earth and the Sun and therefore hidden.  Time is from the day of, to three and a half days later. The Moon’s un-illuminated side is facing the Earth. The Moon is not visible (except during a solar eclipse).

This is a time of new beginnings and new undertakings, and magical workings should revolve around, new beginnings, new growth, regeneration, giving thanks, kicking bad habits or starting new undertakings.

As the world celebrates Easter

As most of the world is celebrating Easter and the resurrection of their saviour, may we cast our minds to other saviours less well known but no less important this weekend.

Deities that have also been resurrected either in a literal or symbolic sense, include the Mesopotamian goddess Inanna and her counterpart Ishtar who was resurrected and ascended from the underworld.

Persephone was also resurrected after returning from Hades. She was doomed to spend the eternity in the underworld after being abducted, but was eventually released by Hermes. Continue reading
